How to Change the Auto-Reply Text on My Facebook Fan Page?

Guidance on how to change the chatbot's auto-reply text through the Backhouse after integrating the Facebook fan page

If your restaurant has already integrated a Facebook fan page with inline, customers will be able to complete the online booking process through the chatbot’s auto-reply function in Facebook Messenger. You can customize the auto-reply text by following these steps and images in Backhouse:

  1. Go to and log in to the Backhouse webpage

  2. In the left menu, click on Descriptions and then switch to the Booking Bot tab at the top

  3. Use the Search function in your browser and copy the text you want to change to quickly find the corresponding text field

    • On Mac, the search shortcut is Command + F

    • On Windows, the search shortcut is CTRL + F

    • On mobile or iPad Chrome browsers, go to the menu at the bottom right and select Find in Page

  4. After finding the corresponding field, click Copy Default at the lower right corner of the field to modify the text. Then click Save to complete

*Please Note: The chatbot’s reply language will be based on the user’s Facebook language settings. The settings here will only apply to one language. If you would like to customize the text for other languages as well, please switch to the desired language under Current Editing Level and set the text accordingly.
